![]() In a last ditch attack, the final Swordfish torpedo bomber would strike the rudder while in a 15 degree turn. Swordfish torpedo planes launched from Ark Royal were instrumental in keeping the Bismarck from escaping British hunters as Bismarck attempted to make port. She'd be used to hunt famous German ships such as: Sharnhorst, Gneisnaeu, Graf Spee, but her greatest moment and one which she'd live in RN history for was her hunt of the Bismarck after said ship(or Euigen depending on who said so) sunk the Hood. But before she went out she gave a lot of service to the Royal navy. Sadly her service life would be very short as she'd be lost off Gibraltar in November 1941 after being torpedoed by U-81. She was launched in 1937, and was fully commissioned the next year in 1938. She was commissioned by the British Royal navy in 1934 to conform to the Washington Naval Treaty. ![]() HMS Ark Royal was the first carrier built from the keel out where the flight deck and hanger were built into the hull, not added onto another hull later on(thanks for the catch Super_Dreadnought). Edit: OK now that I got that straightened out, sorry about the screw ups.
